Quick Review Of The Popular Fluke 101 Multimeter

A multimeter is a special device that’s designed for testing and measuring electric resistance and current. It’s an important tool for electricians and people who work with HVAC systems, electronic goods and products. Many people also call it a multitester or VOM. In this post, we will do a quick review of the Fluke 101 and discuss the pros and cons.

The basic facts

Fluke 101 is a very basic multimeter that almost looks like a smartphone, thanks to small size. While this makes the product very portable, it does lack some of the advanced functions and features that other multimeters have. However, for basic use and smaller projects, Fluke 101 is a pretty good model. It can measure AC and DC voltaged up to 600 volts and can read all the fundamental things including resistance, capacitance, frequency, and continuity. The DC accuracy level is at 0.5%. Since the product is priced under $100, it is one of the most effective options for most people, including electrical workers and technicians.

Features at a glance

If you are looking for a multimeter with loads of auxiliary features, the Fluke 101 might not be the perfect choice, but it does fit well for regular needs. It’s compact and convenient at the same time, and can be kept easily in a tool box or a regular shelf. The device doesn’t come with a backlight, which can seem like a problem to some users. The Fluke 101 has a hold feature along with a diode checker, but it cannot measure current. The max range of both DC and AC voltage is around 600 volts, with a +/- margin of 0.5%, as mentioned earlier. The product should be turned off after every use, but in case you forget the same, the product has an auto power off feature to reduce battery drainage. The data hold function is surely one of the main highlights of this product, given that many multimeters in the same category don’t have this feature. However, the database range is limited.

Fluke 101 is an affordable, easy to use and lightweight product that offers reliable and accurate information. The only problem we had was with the backlight, which is missing, making this product unusable in dark areas. The auto-ranging can be slow at times. Minus these minor hiccups, the product is worth your time and can be used extensively for any kind of requirements.
